The Cost And Benefit Of Ballistics-Resistant Window Film

Ballistics-Resistant Window Film In Salt Lake

The world can be a scary and uncertain place that is for sure. While Salt Lake City certainly is a safe place to live, raise a family and own a business, the truth is–acts of terrorism and acts of violence happen at random. Commercial buildings are especially susceptible to attack in the form of guns and bombs because they tend to house more people and, as you already well know, schools and government buildings, in particular, seem to be common places where gun violence is carried out. This is why buildings of this sort and many others need to be prepared for acts of terrorism, mass shootings, and bomb attacks. One way to do this is to protect the windows on your building with ballistics resistant window film. These films are a powerful way to guard what is arguably the weakest point of the security of your buildings–the windows. Not only do these high-tech window films keep glass in place after a bullet strike or a bomb blast, keeping innocent bystanders safe from glass shrapnel, they also keep would-be attackers from gaining entry into the building for precious seconds and even minutes. This gives those inside the building more time to escape and significantly increase survival odds. One question we at Window Film Salt Lake City (besides whether or not bullet resistant window film stops bullets) is–”How much does it cost?” Below we have listed a range of cost associated with both regular security window film and bomb and ballistics resistant window film as well

The Price Range For Security Window Films

Security Films

Price: $8-16 per square foot

These films keep glass in place and protected against blunt force on the windows of your property. This helps mitigate the damage done in crimes like “smash and grabs” because it takes significantly longer to get into a window treated with film–if at all. It also protects people in and around your building from flying glass debris. Should the window be hit with extreme force, the glass will break, but stay in place.

Bullet And Bomb Resistant Film

Price: $125 per square foot

Many people ask us if we carry “bulletproof glass”. The truth is, there is no such thing as a true “bulletproof glass” (any glass can be penetrated given enough time and a high enough caliber bullet), but we do offer a package that includes treatment with the nanoengineered C bond adhesive, which, when combined with high-level security window film and specialty frames, makes glass virtually impenetrable to bullets and bombs.
*Please note: Security films require the addition of specialty framing around each treated window. These frames are normally priced by the linear foot and range from $2-5 per linear foot.
